Vesper Wake was a contestant in the 45th Championship, an 18-year-old who had been arrested as part of a illegal smuggling operation. He gained a reputation from his interviews and his time in training for being sullen, perceptive and shockingly rude!
It wasn't until he entered the arena that the young ex-convict began to shine. Masterfully manipulating the terrain and his resources, Wake orchestrated a string of deaths from the shadows, never revealing his position. His confrontation with runner up James Law Jr. ended not with a whimper, but a bang. It was his final trap, a chemical explosion, that took Law's life and earned Wake his nickname— The Nitroglycerin Prince.
In Arcadia Today's infamous one word interview with the newly crowned Champion, Wake described his time in the arena as "boring." He subsequently disappeared from the public eye, refusing further interviews and only appearing in front of cameras at the biannual Champion's dinners.
Now 23, Vesper Wake works as a consultant detective for the Arcadia Security Division and is even rumoured to have ties to ISIS. He was last seen as a member of the gamemaking committee for the 48th Championships, but has since moved on to mentoring. Wake refused to comment when we asked him his choice of protégé for the upcoming games, but whoever it may be, we know they won't be "boring"!
